- Why do I need to choose a folder before scanning?
- Maclume runs in Apple's App Sandbox, so it can only look at folders you give it access to. Choose your home folder to scan most of your files, or pick a whole disk under Locations. Maclume remembers your choice.
- Some folders show as inaccessible or very small. Why?
- macOS protects certain locations, such as other apps' containers, Mail and system folders. Maclume skips those. This is expected and keeps your system safe.
- Are files deleted permanently?
- No. Maclume always moves files to the Trash. You can undo with
⌘Z, use Put Back in Maclume, or restore them from the Trash in Finder. Files are only gone for good when you empty the Trash yourself. - What is free and what is Pro?
- Scanning, the list and map views, suggestions and duplicate finding are free, and you can clean up 2 GB for free. Maclume Pro removes that limit and lets you remove duplicates. Pro is a one-time purchase with no subscription.
- I bought Pro. How do I unlock it on another Mac?
- Sign in with the same Apple ID, open Maclume and choose Settings, then Restore Purchase.
- Can my family use Pro?
- Yes. Maclume Pro supports Family Sharing. Family members open Maclume and choose Restore Purchase if Pro doesn't unlock automatically.
- How does Maclume find duplicates?
- It groups files by size, then compares checksums of their contents. Only files that are byte-for-byte identical are shown as duplicates.
- What do I need to run Maclume?
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon or an Intel processor.
